WORLD AIRLINE ROAD RACE 2017 REVIEW
The World Airline Road Race is a gathering of airline industry professionals from all corners of the world, includes all levels and coordination between airlines. It was first organized back in 1982 in San Francisco, USA which attracted 30 runners from 30 different airlines. This year on its 36th edition, it was held on 7th October 2017 at The Float, Marina Bay Singapore, with "Rain Shine Sun Singapore" tagline.
This year over 60+ airlines took over in the race which consist of some of the elite runners from their respective country. The likes of well known Lufthansa, British Airways, Air Canada, AeroMexico, Swiss International, Qantas, Singapore Airlines, Emirates Airlines, Etihad Airways, JetBlue, KLM, Delta Airlines, Polish Airlines, Thai Airways, Royal Brunei, Air France, Air China and Malaysia Airlines took part in this year mouth-watering race.
It was AirAsia's inaugural WARR after getting a big thumbs up from our big boss,Tony Fernandes. This was a special occasion dedicated to our late legendary Allstars runner, Selvaganesh who passed away on last July. It was a kind of tough race at The Float; running on the pavement - which is something we are not used to train, plus running in between buildings - less oxygen compared to run in the nature, several sharp u-turns and slippery surface make it the run was a bit difficult to manage. Some of the elite runners was DNF because feeling of dizziness and not used to the hot and humidity of Singapore.
Luckily we finished the race safe, sound and stronger and more importantly free injuries. 13 runners from Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, Philippines and India unites together under one roof, strives TOGETHER for one ultimate GLORY of a lifetime. We did quite well by finishing 3rd in 10km Men's Open category! NUMBER 3 in the world for first timer is quite a stats! Bravos to the TEAM for the teamwork and sportsmanship spirit throughout the race! It was so exciting and definitely an unforgettable experience!
A wonderful moments meeting runners and sharing inspiring journey form all over the world - not everyday you will see them! So some photos for the memories :) See you guys in Victoria, Canada in 2018! (hopefully) ;)
Hugs,
RR.
